TEN DAYS CAMP
Balearic Islands

Students will enjoy a trip on the schooner the Cervantes Saavedra. They will visit different ports of cultural interest, touring the Balearic Islands.

They will learn all aspects of traditional sailing on a classic tall ship. They will learn about and take part in each of the sea watches associated with each of the ship’s drills. They will take part in each of the ship’s four departments and will be able to carry out different activities and cultural visits.

Who is it aimed at:

  • Ten Days Balearics Schools: Aimed at schools that want to offer a different programme to their students, with the possibility of offering a custom timetable with the teaching of classes.
  • Ten Days Balearics Universities: it is aimed at universities that want to offer a different programme to their students. With the possibility of creating a custom timetable with content for recognition of academic credits.

What is learned on the course:

  • They will learn all aspects of traditional sailing on a classic tall ship. They will learn about and take part in each of the sea watches associated with each of the ship’s drills.
  • They will learn about and take part in activities in each of the ship’s four departments. Bridge, machine room, deck and anchor.
  • Different workshops will be held on sailing knots, sewing of sails and ropes, handling of the ship’s sails safely.
  • They will use navigation charts and learn to maintain order and discipline on board. Students will develop their social and leadership skills.

Theoretical – practical lessons for the diving/kite board or hydrofoil course.

12.00 – 13.30h

Theoretical – practical lessons for the diving/kite board or hydrofoil course.

13.30 – 14.30h

Lunch

14.30 – 16.30h

Free time.

16.30 – 18.00h

Map reading, navigation and marine biology workshops.

18.00 – 19.00h

Water sports.

19.00 – 20.00h

Dinner.

  • The sailing times, timetables and places of anchorage are provisional and are subject to possible changes according to the sailing conditions and subject to the captain’s discretion, who, based on this, could delay the departure or bring forward the return.
  • Sailing experience is not required.
  • Suitable for children (recommended minimum age 8 years old).
  • Appropriate footwear must be worn on the deck of the boat (deck shoes or sneakers with a light-coloured sole. No heels).
  • Music can be played in the aft bar, as well as on the upper deck, as long as there are no drills happening at the time and respecting the rest of the crew and neighbouring ships in the coves.
  • Meals are self-service normally in two shifts.
  • Safety regulations must be observed at all times.
